No. 7 Most-Read Story of 2020: WPD cops break into Wilmington home

WILMINGTON — As part of our countdown to 2021, Port City Daily is revisiting some of its biggest stories of 2020.

Coming in seventh is coverage of an unusual incident filmed and broadcast on social media that showed Wilmington Police Department officers breaking into a downtown home and tasing a man through a broken window.

The incident raised plenty of questions, some that were, and some that weren’t ever answered.

After a review of public records, more details emerged, including information that an officer was injured during the incident and that officers were responding to a 911 call about a man who allegedly threatened the caller with a knife.

In the end, WPD refused to answer further questions. about the matter.
