WILMINGTON — On Monday evening police responded to a ‘multiple-round’ Shotspotter alert and found a male victim with a gunshot wound.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the 20-year-old victim was found on the 1100 block of Ranking St. around 6:05 p.m. and taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. WPD said the severity of the man’s injuries were unknown.

The shooting comes three days after a Friday night dispute on the 800 block of Hanover Street, several blocks away, turned violent, sending one man to the hospital. On Saturday afternoon, 29-year-old Rodney O’Brien Wilson turned himself and remains in custody. WPD did not say if it believed the two incidents were at all related.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Wilmington Police Department at (910)-343-3609 or use tip708.com for anonymous methods.
