NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The county will broadcast live the top three proposals to partner with New Hanover Regional Medical Center this week ahead of a County Commissioner hearing later this month.
Last month, the Partnership Advisory Group (PAG) narrowed the field of six proposals to buy, lease, or partner with NHRMC to three top candidates (although they did not officially eliminate the other three): Novant, Atrium, and Duke Health. The NHMRC Board of Trustees and County Commissioners have both endorsed these top three selections.
UNC Health, which also submitted a proposal, recently announced it would partner with Novant in a joint bid, effectively putting the option of an expanded medical program back on the table.
According to NHRMC, all presentations will be done virtually and will be streamed live for the public to view on NHCTV.com and NHCTV cable stations (Spectrum channel 13 and Charter channel 5) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:
- Tuesday, June 9: Duke Health
- Wednesday, June 10: Novant Health
- Thursday, June 11: Atrium Health
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 22 for the public to comment on all six proposals. According to the county, details for the hearing will be announced next week.
Details on all six proposals can be found here. Residents can share their comments, concerns, and opinions with the PAG at any time by emailing PAGcomments@nhcgov.com.
