Man arrested after shots fired in Carolina Beach domestic dispute, multiple firearms seized

CAROLINA BEACH — A 43-year-old has been arrested after a domestic disturbance with shots fired in Carolina Beach Thursday night.

According to police, “Officers with the Carolina Beach Police Department were dispatched to 811 Canal Dr., Unit A in reference to a domestic disturbance and shots fired call. Upon officer’s arrival, the suspect Ronald Power III, a 43-year-old male of Carolina Beach, N.C. refused to cooperate with officers. After a short time, Powers surrendered to officers and was placed under arrest. Multiple firearms were seized from the residence and evidence of a shot being fired in the residence was obtained.”

Powers has been charged with:

  • Assault by Pointing a Gun 
  • Discharging a Firearm in City Limits 
  • Assault on a Female 
  • Child Abuse 
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Felon 

Powers has been taken to the New Hanover County Detention Center and has not been given a bond. He is awaiting his first appearance and no major injuries were reported or required medical attention on scene, according to police.
