
CASTLE HAYNE — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to solve an animal cruelty case involving a badly injured puppy.
The incident happened late last month in Castle Hayne, in northern New Hanover County.
According to the NHCSO, “[o]n March 27, 2020, the Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 11:26 a.m. after someone found a brown puppy, approximately 6-8 weeks old, abandoned on a secluded dirt road off of Holly Shelter Road in Castle Hayne.” [Note: In a photo of the puppy’s injuries, provided by NHCSO, the puppy appears light-brown to golden.]
According to NHCSO’s Animal Services Unity, “the puppy had severe burns about his face, legs, and body. The puppy is safe and receiving treatment at this time.”
