ICYMI – Commissioner resigns in protest, major development, and more

With two years left in his term, now-former Commissioner Guy Auger abruptly announced his resignation at Boiling Spring Lakes’ last regular meeting of the year. His fellow commissioners described the resignation as a disappointing disagreement. But for Auger, his departure was based on philosophical and ethical differences.

The project is the largest subdivision in the region — but it’s actually just a small part of the expected development in the region.

The move would prevent private companies from opening year-round pay-to-park lots.

Former State Senator Thom Goolsby was disciplined by the state bar for failing to properly represent a personal injury client. It’s not clear if it will impact any of his public roles, including as a lobbyist for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center and a member of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
