Pender man wanted for ‘vicious attack’ of ex-girlfriend turns himself in

The Sheriff’s Office is searching for Sevonta Akeem Waddell, wanted for “the vicious attack of his former girlfriend.”

PENDER COUNTY — A man wanted for the “vicious attack of his former girlfriend” has turned himself in.

On Friday the Pender County Sheriff’s Office was asking the public for help in its search of Sevonta Akeem Waddell. The attack occurred last Sunday afternoon, December 8, in the southern outskirts of Burgaw in the area of New Road and Jordan Lane.

“Waddell’s victim was bitten severely, beaten and had personal items stolen during a domestic assault,” Captain James Rowell said in a release.

Waddell turned himself into the Pender County Magistrate’s office in Burgaw on Friday afternoon.

Waddell was wanted on the charges of domestic assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious injury, assault on a female, and larceny.

“He also has numerous other outstanding orders for arrest,” Rowell said.
