
WILMINGTON — Two men have been arrested and charged with several counts of larceny after a string of landscaping equipment thefts across the city according to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD).
“Over the past month and a half, the WPD property crimes unit has been investigating the theft of thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment, including chainsaws, leaf blowers, and weed eaters, from businesses and private citizens. The suspects were believed to be two white males driving a blue Honda,” according to a press release.
The duo was arrested on Friday.
“On Friday, September 13, detectives arrested Kristopher Gell, 40, and Phillip Harrington, 46, after witnessing the pair actively stealing from a landscaping company working in the area of St. Andrews Drive. Gell is charged with six counts of habitual larceny and one count of breaking and entering. He is being held at the New Hanover County Jail under a $21,900 bond. Harrington is charged with one count of misdemeanor larceny and one count of resist/hinder/delay/obstruct for fleeing the scene. Detectives quickly apprehended him. Harrington was given an unsecured bond,” according to the release.
