WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is taking its second venture into the world of television, but this time, it’s the four-legged cops getting the screen time.
“A&E K9 Patrol which will air on the A&E Network this coming fall. K-9 Patrol follows police K9 Units on patrol across America. The goal is to show how pivotal K-9 officers and their canines are in reducing crime and improving community relations. In doing so, the canines are seen as more than dogs but actual partners who protect and serve,” according to the Wilmington Police Department.
The series will be similar to Women on Patrol, another show featuring officers from Wilmington Police Department.
“Episode is 30 minutes and consists of stories from multiple K-9 Units … Three K-9 Patrol teams from the WPD will be featured on the show. K9 Patrol is produced by A&E Television Network and Big Fish Entertainment … Small, handheld and rigged cameras will be used. Crews arrived in Wilmington and began shooting in early August,” according to WPD.
