WILMINGTON — Masonboro Station could soon be growing. Plans submitted to the City of Wilmington this week show a proposed expansion which would add a new building to the commercial center.

Off Masonboro Loop Road in Wilmington, Masonboro Station is currently home to Whiskey Trail, the Keg and the Egg, and other retail establishments.

A new 9,200 square foot two-story building is proposed on undeveloped land at the 2.7-acre site. The new building would add 28 new parking spaces that would wrap around the north side of the existing buildings, creating a U-shape between all three.

A 2,000 square foot covered deck could be built between and behind the two existing buildings, site plans show. Acadia Services LLC owns Masonboro Station and submitted expansion plans on July 31.

Land behind the existing retail center would be developed according to site plans to include a new stormwater pond. Wilmington’s Technical Review Committee could review the site plans in August, but the project does not currently appear on the committee’s Aug. 8 agenda.
