Summer’s not over: Five student volunteer opportunities in Wilmington for late July and August

WILMINGTON — For some students, summer is a time to take a break from studies — but, honestly, for most, it’s a chance to pick up summer jobs, internships, summer classes, and of course volunteer opportunities.

If you (or someone you know) are still looking to give back this summer, don’t worry: there’s still plenty of time, and plenty of places to volunteer your time. Here’s five in the Wilmington area (have one to suggest? Let us know in the comments).

  1. Lumina Academy

Lumina Academy is home to some amazing students from high schools to universities across America contributing to its mission to help under-privileged students around the globe in their education through technology. Whether it’s through Pen Pal programs or site visit summer programs, there are many opportunities to volunteer.

  1. DREAMS

DREAMS of Wilmington, Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to building creative, committed citizens, one child at a time, through providing youth in need with high-quality, free-of-charge programming in the literary, visual, multimedia and performing arts.

Volunteer orientation can be completed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
