Update: Wilmington Police Department arrest man for alleged murder and robbery

Update 12:05 p.m. — Wilmington police have formally arrested suspect Jody Richard Farrow, 33. He has been charged with the murder of Deaundre Idris Sansbury, 43, as well as robbery with a deadly weapon. He is also facing possession and paraphernalia charges.

Farrow is currently being held in the New Hanover County detention center without bond.

WILMINGTON — Authorities responded to a shooting call on Sunday night to find a man dead in his residence located off of Carolina Beach Road

The Wilmington Police Department (WPD) dispatched officers to a residence on the small Nina Place cul-de-sac off Carolina Beach Road south of Shipyard Blvd around 11 p.m. Sunday night. Officers found a man dead, apparently from gunshot wounds.

Shortly afterwards, a suspect was taken into custody.

According to WPD spokesperson Lindon Thompson, the department is in the process of securing warrants to officially arrest the suspect on charges of first degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon. After a formal arrest, expected later today, WPD will release the suspect’s name, according to Thompson.

WPD will also release the victim’s name, Thompson said, after the man’s family members are contacted.
