Update Thursday morning: After initially saying it expected more closures but did not specific dates, Thursday morning the NCDOT announced overnight closures on the Isabel Holmes bridge would last nearly two years.

WILMINGTON — The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close the Isabel Holmes Bridge on Thursday night, beginning a series of nightly closures for repairs.
The bridge will be closed from 7 p.m. Thursday evening until 6 a.m. Friday morning. Detour traffic to and from Brunswick County will be directed to the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and I-140.
According to the NCDOT, future closures are expected, but no specific dates have been set as of yet.
NCDOT and City of Wilmington staff have discussed the potential closures since April, but could not commence work — or release closures dates — until work on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge concluded.
