The Leland Police Department stated that the state is investigating the incident but declined to comment further.
LELAND — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a Thursday afternoon accident involving a Leland police vehicle; the crash sent one person to the hospital.
The wreck took place in the intersection of Old Fayetteville and Village roads in Leland around 4:30 p.m. according to multiple witnesses who provided photos of the incident. A Leland police vehicle apparently struck another vehicle, causing damage to both cars.
The Leland police officer involved was treated at the scene; one person from the other vehicle was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
The Leland Police Department declined to comment about the incident. Spokesperson Lt. Jeremy Humphries referred all questions to the State Highway Patrol. A spokesperson for the SHP confirmed the state is investigating the crash, but said an incident report has not yet been completed.
