WILMINGTON — The intersection of Wrightsville Avenue and Military Cutoff Road is temporarily closed, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

A large trailer took the lights down at the intersection, necessitating immediate repairs. The incident occurred before 11 a.m.

Crews are at the scene to reinstate power to the intersection, still without power as of 11:47 a.m. Traffic is backed up in northern Military Cutoff Road near Smith Creek due to the outage.

Wilmington Police Department encourages motorists to find an aleternate route. In the absence of power, the Wilmington Police Department (WPD) asks motorists to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

“This means, the first to arrive is the first to drive,” WPD stated in its Facebook post about the incident.
