WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Drivers in Wilmington should be ready to sit in some additional traffic this Saturday as the Wrightsville Beach Marathon.
According to the Wrightsville Beach Marathon website, “Traffic Hot spots will be listed from most impactful to least impactful. If you need to be somewhere Saturday morning March 9 between 6:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. you need to read this thoroughly. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.”
Here are the major delays expected for Saturday.
- Military Cutoff Road and Destiny Way (Mayfaire) – expect significant delays between 7:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
- Eastwood Road and Rogersville Road – expect significant delays between 7:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
- Oleander Drive and Airlie/Wrightsville Ave – Expect significant delays between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.
- Salisbury Street on Wrightsville Beach – Closed from 6:10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Airlie Rd eastbound (sound side) – you will not be able to travel from Oleander to Eastwood via Airlie – only from Eastwood to Oleander (west)
- One lane of Eastwood Road and Military Cutoff Road will be shut down in both directions leading into the intersection; expect slower traffic.
- Rose Ave/Mallard Street and Rill Road to Clear Run Drive will be slower traffic
- Autumn Hall residents should be mindful of marathoners between miles 20-23 in your neighborhood through around noon.
