WILMINGTON — New Hanover County might be small in size and limited when it comes to undeveloped areas, but developers are continuing to find acres of land with the hopes of rezoning and constructing new communities; now, more than 300-apartments are being proposed for a 64-acre lot located on South College Road in New Hanover County.
A meeting notice has been sent to the county to notify residents and stakeholders of an upcoming community meeting regarding a proposed conditional use district rezoning request by Cameron Management.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Midtown YMCA.
According to the notice, the notice is for an upcoming request by Cameron Management to rezone a portion of the property located at 5601 South College Road from R-15 to CUD R-10, for the construction of a high-density multifamily residential project.

The apartment complex would consist of 324 apartment units, a clubhouse, pool, and other amenities.
While the property in question is about 64-acres in size, the rezoning would only be for 20.70-acres, according to the notice.
The community meeting is open to the public and is hosted by the developer to answer questions people might have, it is not a county-sponsored meeting.
