WILMINGTON — Another major piece of the redevelopment of Wilmington’s riverfront will break ground next month, as construction begins on the long-planned Pier 33 project.
According to Dewitt Carolinas, the official groundbreaking for Pier 33 will be February 7. The project plans to bring 286 luxury apartments, 20,000 square feet of commercial space, and a 525-space parking garage to the riverfront area.
The 5-acre development sits between PPD and Wilmington Convention Center, bordering the Riverwalk section along the Port City Marina. Developers say the project will be comprised of “a six-story institutional grade steel and concrete building, with extensive interior and exterior amenities, and direct access to the Riverwalk, Northern Riverfront Marina and the city’s future Riverfront Park.”
Dewitt Carolinas said the project will welcome residents by Spring of 2020, with pre-leasing to begin in late 2019.
“We are excited to be underway and to be introducing what will surely be a sought-after address for those eager to live in a luxury waterfront apartment in downtown Wilmington,” said Dewitt Carolinas CEO Todd Saieed.
Dewitt Carolinas President Evertt Daniels said the project team for Pier 33 would include general contractors Wimco/Kaufman Lynn, project designers JDavis Architects and Coastal Site Design, and property managers Drucker & Falk.
