I-40 lane closures heading in and out of Wilmington starting soon

WILMINGTON — Drivers heading in or out of Wilmington on I-40 will encounter some road closures later this month near Gordon Road.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, “One of two westbound lanes of the I-40 bridge over Gordon Road in Wilmington will close during the daytime between Jan. 14 and Jan. 25. Crews will be replacing bridge joints each of those days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.”

There will be no detours, but drivers can expect some traffic and are encouraged to use alternative routes.
