WILMINGTON — Residents in the neighborhoods just east of downtown Wilmington took a moment of reprieve during the relative calm that came after Hurricane Florence made landfall early this morning.
Florence had left a destructive path: massive oak and pine trees had been uprooted, blocking the streets and falling on homes throughout the neighborhood. City of Wilmington Fire Rescue trucks were seen weaving in out and out of fallen tree debris throughout the morning and into the afternoon.
