CAROLINA BEACH — A new festival has made its way to Carolina Beach. This weekend, Rock the Beach Festival will remind locals of another familiar festival.

It’s set up just like the beach music festival,” Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce’s president, Greg Reynolds, said. “It’s almost identical except for the type of the music.”

With summer coming to an end, Reynolds said the chamber decided to introduce the new festival on a slower weekend. “We said, ‘Let’s give this a shot.'”

Between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, bands will be on the stage on the oceanfront near the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. The festival’s slogan boasts, “drink your own beer and listen to the songs you know.”

With ZZ Top, Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd cover bands lined up for the festival, concert-goers are free to pack their coolers and head to the beach.

Tickets are on sale now for $20 online and at the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce, Island Tackle, Silver Dollar and Olde Salty’s.

If concert-goers run out of their own supply, Reynolds said Good Hops Brewing, Noni Bacca Winery, and Duplin Winery will be on the boardwalk offering craft beer and wine.
