WILMINGTON — The intersection of two major thoroughfares in Wilmington will be closing at night starting this weekend, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
“Drivers using the entrance and exit ramps at the intersection of College Road and Market Street in Wilmington should be aware of closures beginning Sunday, Aug. 12. The closures are needed so crews can repave all the ramps at this intersection. That will improve the safety of the ramps and make the ride considerably smoother for drivers,” according to an NCDOT press release.
Closures for southbound ramps will begin 8 p.m. Sunday continuing until 6 a.m. Monday.
Northbound ramps will begin Monday at 8 p.m. and continue until Tuesday, 6 a.m.
According to the release, “Crews will not be working outside the allotted time of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detour signs will change for each individual closure. Transportation officials urge travelers to follow the message boards and use caution on the detour routes during the closures.”
