SURF CITY — After spending several hours as a fugitive from justice, Pender County Sheriff’s Office located Christopher Scott Tew-Creech and took him into custody.
“The Surf City Police Department took Christopher Scott Tew-Creech into custody early this morning for active drug warrants from the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office. Tew-Creech was also in possession of heroin during the time of arrest,” according to a press release from Chief Ron Shanahan of the Surf City Police Department.
But things went awry shortly after his initial apprehension and he was transported to the Pender County Magistrate’s office.
“While at the magistrate’s office he was placed on a secured bond. A release order was given to the Surf City Police Officer who was waiting in the lobby to turn the prisoner over to the jailer when the arrestee fled … Tew-Creech has no known history of violence …” Shananhan said.
Creech was later apprehended by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office
“At approximately 1:15pm, officials with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office located Christopher Scott Tew-Creech, and took him into custody without incident near the 4000 block of Stag Park Rd. The Surf City Police Department would like to thank the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Police Department, and the Burgaw Police Department for their assistance in bringing this event to a safe end,” Shanahan said in a follow-up press release.
