KURE BEACH — A nearly 10-hour-long stand off has ended in Kure Beach after an unnamed subject was taken into law enforcement custody by the New Hanover County Emergency Response Team. The incident occurred Sunday evening and ended at 5:25 a.m. Monday morning.
According to a statement from the Kure Beach Police Department, the subject was barricaded at 225 A North Fourth Ave, in Kure Beach.
The subject exited the residence and was apprehended by the Emergency Response Team, the individual is now being evaluated by emergency personnel, according to the Kure Beach Police Department (KBPD).
The incident displaced approximately 10 surrounding residents who were evacuated and provided shelter during the event. Residents and guests who were displaced may now return to their homes, KBPD said in the press statement.
No injuries have been reported and KBPD is not releasing anymore information related to potential charges as the investigation is ongoing.
