Severe thunderstorms expected in southeastern N.C. this evening

The severe thunderstorm watch runs until 10 p.m. Monday

SOUTHEASTERN, N.C.—Severe thunderstorms are expected in southeastern North Carolina Monday.

The National Weather Service Wilmington has placed New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties on a severe thunderstorm watch among other southeastern communities.

The watch will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Monday evening and was issued at 1 p.m. A severe thunderstorm indicates a storm with winds over 57 miles per hour and hail larger than 1 inch in diameter.
