Update: According to a Wilmington International Airport spokesperson, a TSA repair team is waiting for a part to arrive Tuesday evening in order to repair the x-ray machines. The airport hopes to have its x-ray machines up and running again Wednesday morning; passengers are advised to continue to arrive at least two hours before scheduled departure.
WILMINGTON — Passengers trying to fly out of Wilmington International Airport will face longer-than-average delays today as officials try to repair a broken x-ray machine.
According to Erin McNally, spokeswoman for the airport, a TSA x-ray machine in the airport’s security area malfunctioned early on the morning of Tuesday, May 15. The airport does not employ technicians who work on TSA equipment, and so the machine could not immediately be repaired.
A @TSA lane is closed due to an equipment issue. Repairs are in process. All travelers (standard and PreCheck) are getting screened through 1 lane. Please arrive 2 hours prior to your flight departure time. We apologize for any inconvenience & will provide an update end of day

The airport still has at least one working x-ray machine, however, the airport is asking passengers to allow at least two hours before their estimated departure time.
According to McNally, a TSA-approved repair crew is en route to the airport; McNally said there is not yet an estimated time frame for repairing the x-ray machine. McNally said the airport plans to release an update later in the day.
