Heavy-load carrier vessel Zhen Hua 18 arrives with new cranes for the Port of Wilmington

The arrival of the cranes drew spectators along the Cape Fear to watch the ship head upriver.

KURE BEACH — The heavy-load carrier vessel Zhen Hua 18 drew spectators along the Cape Fear River on Thursday. The ship was delivering two neo-Panamax cranes to the Port of Wilmington.

The U.S. Coast Guard banned boats, including moored boats, from the river during its arrival on Thursday. In addition a “safety zone” will be in place April 1 and 3 around the Port when the cranes are unloaded.
