Wilmington Police arrest Whiteville man for trafficking cocaine

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department arrested a man on Monday, Feb. 19 in connection with cocaine trafficking.

According to police spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron, the arrest of Verrick Black, 40, of Whiteville, ended a four-month narcotics investigation.

Officers seized 194 grams of crack cocaine and 63 grams of powder cocaine during a traffic stop.

Black was charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, resist obstruct/delay arrest and speeding.

Black has prior convictions for second-degree murder, numerous narcotics violations and possession of stolen property.

He was given a $500,000 bond.
