New Jersey man charged for string of armed robberies in Wilmington

WILMINGTON — Wilmington Police Department has charged a man in connection with a string of armed robberies that took place from November to January.

Hector Hernandez, 25, of Plainfield, New Jersey, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 19 by a U.S. Marshals Task Force.

Hernandez has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon at the following businesses:

  • Smoke Rings, 1207 S. Kerr Ave. on Nov. 26
  • Tienda La Vaquita, 4338 Market St. on Nov. 30
  • Golden Dragon, 894 S. Kerr Ave. on Dec. 13
  • Subway, 4414 Market St. on Jan. 17

Hernandez is being charged with two counts of firearm by felon and is currently being held at the New Hanover County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
