WILMINGTON — Wilmington Police are asking residents to avoid the area of 17th Street and Wooster Street after a two vehicle accident.
Spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department Jennifer Dandron said, “There was a two vehicle crash around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 17th Street and Wooster Street. One vehicle (a Nissan van) was flipped on its side. During the accident, a power pole was brought down and snapped in half.”
Traffic has been shut down in the area and Duke Energy will have to repair the snapped pole. There is no indication of power outages on the Duke Energy power outage map at the location at the time of publication.
Dandron said she was not sure when repairs will be completed, but expects it will be awhile until the roads will be reopened for traffic.
