WILMINGTON — Just within the edge of city limits, a developer hopes to bring a bank and medical offices to the Pine Valley area.
Adjacent to the Fulton Station shopping mall and Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q, the 8.11 acre site is currently occupied by Needham Animal Hospital, BB&T and Southeastern Preschool Educational Center, with undeveloped land between the businesses.
At 3710 Federal Park Drive, the owner Nathan Barts has authorized Cape Fear Engineering to act on behalf of him, seeking to rezone the five-lot, 8.11-acre property to all be encompassed within the Office and Institutional district.
The three story building is proposed between the existing businesses. At 14,973 square feet, the proposal calls for it to be occupied by Corning Credit Union and additional businesses.
A two-story, 9,200 square foot building is adjacent to the existing animal hospital, which would include “professional and medical offices,” according to the site plan.
Additional parking is set to be added as well. The Wilmington Planning Commission will discuss the rezoning of the property during its public meeting on Dec. 6.
