WILMINGTON — For some local Wilmington businesses, this Saturday’s deals will bring in their biggest sales of the year.
The day after Black Friday, communities nationwide celebrate Small Business Saturday–a day to support small businesses by shopping at local retail stores.
“We’re really excited about it and I know a couple of stores have decorated for it. Small Business Saturday was our best day last year — a tremendous success for us,” Nancy Bullock, Cotton Exchange general manager said.
This Saturday, Nov. 25, shoppers can visit downtown Wilmington to get in on the Small Business Saturday fun.
If you’re interested in shopping downtown this weekend, customers will also catch a break with parking. According to the City of Wilmington, metered parking will be free Thursday, Friday and Saturday in observance of the onset of the holiday shopping season.
With over 130 unique shops, around 80 restaurants, 40 friendly bars, more than 40 attractions, and over 200 other services according to Wilmington Downtown Inc., residents and visitors are likely to find a gift that speaks to the culture of the Cape Fear Region. Port City Daily has compiled a few of the many stores offering special deals for Small Business Saturday.
Edge of Urge
A favorite quirky spot downtown, Edge of Urge, 18 Market St., will be offering ginger snaps and apple cider vinegar for shoppers to fuel up while supporting local businesses.
A great way to buy what you want and knock out a holiday gift at the same time, for every $100 of merchandise purchased, Edge of Urge will provide a $10 gift card. For five “Freakers” bought, they will give you one free as well.
Gravity Records
Gravity Records, 612 Castle St., will be offering gift certificate tiered deals Saturday to help shoppers kickstart their presents for friends and family.
- Buy a $20 – $45 gift certificate and they’ll add $10 to it
- Buy a $50 – $75 gift certificate and they’ll add $15 to it
- Buy an $80 – $100 gift certificate and they’ll add $20 to it
- Buy a $100+ gift certificate and they’ll add $25 to it
The Wonder Shop
Looking to shop vintage this Saturday? The Wonder Shop, 22 North Front St., is offering a rack sale with $5-20 merchandise and coats from $50 and below.
Tusc Boutique
If you’re looking for a deal for the “boho-baja” in your family, shoppers can check out Tusc Boutique, 21 North Front St. For every $150 of merchandise purchased, this store will offer a $25 gift card. The boutique will also offer half-off the lowest marked price.
Monkee’s of Wilmington
Lumina Station has several spots to shop for holiday gifts, with Monkee’s, 19 Eastwood Road, offering deals all weekend. With 25% off all merchandise Friday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 26, shoppers can pick up shoes, jewelry, designer clothes and more at Monkee’s.
