WILMINGTON — Pembroke’s, the restaurant located at 1125 Military Cutoff Road (near Mayfaire), has announced it will close its doors at the end of the month.
The restaurant opened in 2013 as a sister restaurant to Rx Restaurant and Bar, the Castle Street restaurant also owned by Chef James Doss.
Doss said Pembroke’s had a “great run,” but that he is looking forward to focusing his efforts solely on his downtown restaurant. Pembroke’s will be sold to another area chef, Bob Zimmerman, former Landfall chef and current corporate chef for Pate Dawson and Southern Foods.
“I want to thank our customers, farmers, and employees for making these past four years possible – it’s been a fun ride. I’m so thankful for all of you who have supported us at Pembroke’s and we hope you’ll continue to come see us at Rx,” Doss said. “I’d also like to welcome the new owners and wish them luck. I’m happy this sale will give Bobby Zimmerman, a fellow chef, the opportunity to achieve his goals and bring his vision to this side of town.”
A press release from Pembroke’s notes that farewell specials will still be posted on the restaurant’s Facebook and Instagram page until closing day, Nov. 29.
“After that time, all open gift cards for Pembroke’s will be redeemable at Rx,” the release states.
