WILMINGTON — The group Keep New Hanover Beautiful has teamed with New Hanover County’s Public Library and Environmental Management Department to recycle holiday lights throughout the county.
According to a press release, beginning Nov. 22 and ending Jan. 5, residents will be able to recycle holiday lights at all four New Hanover County Public Library Locations, the Wrightsville Beach Recycling Center and the county’s mobile HazWagon and Household Hazardous Waste Facility. (Find the addresses online.)
Each location will have a large blue recycling bin designated for lights.
“This is the first time we have offered this recycling program in New Hanover County, but it just makes sense,” Environmental Management Director Joe Suleyman said. “It will raise money for Keep New Hanover Beautiful and benefit the county by keeping all of those holiday lights out of the landfill.
