NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The county health department will be spraying for Salt Marsh Mosquitoes on two evenings over the next week.
Spot spraying will occur throughout much of the county between 6 p.m. and midnight on Thursday, Sept. 14, and Monday, Sept. 18. Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Myrtle Grove and parts of downtown are not scheduled to be sprayed. (A full map is available below.)
Although health department drivers are instructed to cut off mosquito sprayers when people are standing nearby, the county asked residents to “go inside about 30 minutes when you see the truck spraying.”
The county also asks residents: “remember to check f or standing water in your yards and dump water from all manmade containers. Toss, recycle, or store containers inside so that they can never hold water.
Spray dates may be cancelled without notice, according to the county. Additional information about mosquito control is available from New Hanover County here.
