WILMINGTON — If you enjoy fried chicken sandwiches, you might want to put your regular Thursday lunch plans on hold.
The Wilmington Rise Biscuits Donuts location is giving away free sandwiches on Thursday, July 13, to “prove theirs is the best,” according to a press release. The restaurant will offer sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sandwiches are served on a potato bun (no biscuits), with a customer’s choice of toppings and sauce.

Rise Biscuits Donuts has been touted as a phenomenon in the Carolinas since the first Durham store opened in 2012. The store won several local and national awards, as well as a TV appearance on Food Network’s “Donut Showdown.” Rise was voted Best Biscuit in the Triangle two years in a row and ranked among the best biscuits in the country by Food & Wine Magazine. The store previously offered free tastings for their grand opening in September of 2016.
