CAROLINA BEACH — Carolina Beach police have charged a 44-year-old resident with multiple sex offenses against a minor.
Police on Friday said they arrested Herman Samuel Dawson, of 602 Harper Ave., in the area of the Snows Cut Bridge in Carolina Beach without incident.
Dawson was charged with: One count of statutory sex offense of a child, one count of second degree forcible sex offense, one count of indecent liberties with a child, one count of sexual battery, one count of possessing a photographic image from peeping, one count of providing tobacco products to a person under 18 years old, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and three counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to a press release from the department, Dawson’s arrest came after a four-month investigation that included interviews with witnesses and victims, evidence collection and forensic examination of digital media.
A New Hanover County Magistrate has placed Dawson under on a $1,000,000 secured bond. He is waiting his first court appearance from inside the county jail, the release states.
