According to a press release sent out by Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer, Deputies responded to the Handee Hugo shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to Lt. Brewer, “The store clerk stated that she heard someone come in to the gas station and as she looked around she was confronted by a black male with a sharp object in his hand demanding she open the register. The man received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.”

A canine unit from the Sheriff’s Office searched the area, but was unsuccessful in tracking down the suspect. According to Lt. Brewer, Deputies are looking for a suspect described as a “skinny black male, in his late 20’s.”  The suspect was last seen wearing dark jeans, a black jacket and a white t-shirt tied around his face.

According to Lt. Brewer, Deputies are investigating this case and will release additional information as it becomes available.
