WILMINGTON – Discounted bridal, pageant and formal wear will be overflowing during an auction held next week.
According to the New Hanover Sheriff’s Office, over 3,000 designer dresses – along with footwear, jewelry and other accessories – will be auctioned off on Saturday, April 22. Due to to overwhelming volume, the Sheriff’s Office has rented a temporary location in the Belk wing of the Independence Mall.
The auction will begin “promptly at 11 a.m.,” according to the Sheriff’s Office, but officials will allow viewing of the dresses and accessories starting at 10 a.m. Payment to the Sheriff’s Office will be accepted at the end of the auction; the auction staff will be accepting cash and credit cards.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, “featured brands will be Tony Bowls, Mac Duggal, Jovani, Terani, Sherri Hill, Heather French Henry, and Claire’s Collection.”
The auction is the result of a writ of execution against an unnamed local dress shop for unpaid rent, according to the Sheriff’s Office release. According to the release, this event – like all Sheriff’s auctions – is subject to postponement in the event the dress shop reaches a settlement with its landlord.
