UDPATE: Silver Alert canceled for missing Wilmington woman

UPDATE: Thursday, 4:00 p.m. — North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has canceled its Silver Alert issued for 63-year-old Helen Diane Thomson.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A Silver Alert has been issued for an endangered woman missing for weeks.

Helen Diane Thomson, 63, of 2012 White Road, in Wilmington was reported missing from the area on March 8, according to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jerry Brewer.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Person’s reported that Thomson is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Thomson is a 5-foot 5-inch tall white female who weighs about 200 pounds. She has blonde, shoulder-length hair and blue eyes.

She is believed to be driving a Red 2006 Chrysler Sebring with a black convertible top, with North Carolina License Plate number XVG-2696. Detectives suspect she could possibly be in the Tennessee area.
