Reward being offered for information that could lead to the arrest of Wilmington murder suspect

WILMINGTON — A suspect is wanted in the early February murder of 28-year-old Montreal Holmes and Crimestoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest.

William Shemont Springer, 32, is wanted on charge of murder in the death of Holmes, who was killed as a result of an early-morning shooting on Feb. 5, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Thompson.

The incident occurred at 515 S. Ninth St. at about 2:30 a.m. that day. Officers responded to a report of shots fired and found two males who had suffered gunshot wounds.

The men were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center via EMS for treatment. Holmes was pronounced dead on arrival. A 34-year-old male victim was also treated for serious injuries.
