WILMINGTON — Get into the holiday spirit. The City of Wilmington’s Annual Holiday Parade is in downtown Wilmington this weekend.

The parade will begin at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, according to the city. Due to construction along Wilmington’s Riverfront and the Water Street area, the parade route will run a different route this year.

The route will take the parade from North Front and Walnut streets, south on Front and ending on Church Street.

Parking for the event will be $2 at the Market Street parking deck or the Second Street parking deck starting at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. All on-street parking is free on Sundays.  The city asks parade-goers to note that the Market Street parking deck fills up quickly, so other options should be considered when traveling downtown. The Water Street parking deck will also be open Sunday.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, Front Street, between Brunswick and Walnut streets, will be closed to all traffic. Closures along the parade route from Walnut through Castle streets will begin at 4 p.m. They will be reopened immediately following the parade at 6:30 p.m.

Those attempting to get into the Hilton Wilmington Riverside hotel, the Cotton Exchange and the Wilmington Convention Center should enter the area via Third and Front streets to Brunswick to Nutt streets.
