Where We Live: A weekly look at the homes in the Cape Fear Region.
WILMINGTON — Nestled in the neighborhood near North 23rd Street, this 1,277 square-foot home at 2202 Plaza Drive has slowly become a microcosm of the last half-century of Wilmington living.
Built in the 1950s, as the city started to expand, it showcases the design features from its construction, like hidden drawers and a compact attic space. In addition, as several tenants have come and gone over the years, many have left behind items that tell the individual stories of their owners. They include a jukebox, bicycles, a Radio Flyer wagon and an advertisement for rolling paper.
