WILMINGTON – Jordan Smith, winner of season nine of the NBC reality music show “The Voice” will perform at Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center on Friday, Oct. 28. The college announced that tickets went on sale Wednesday.
According to a press release from the college, in 2015 Smith became the highest selling artist to have ever competed on the show.
“One week after his victory, Smith made history on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart,” the release. “He became the first artist to hold the top two positions concurrently when his cover of ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ overtook ‘Hallelujah’ as the No. 1 song. Smith’s version of ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’ occupied the No. 8 spot at the same time, making him only the third artist of all time to chart three songs in the top 10 simultaneously.”
Smith is currently on tour performing songs from his 2016 album, “Something Beautiful.” It is set to include original music as well as well-known songs like “Over The Rainbow, “Amazing Grace,” Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody,” Florence + the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over,” and “Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful.”
