NEW HANOVER COUNTY – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man found to be in possession of 890 bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
Twenty-two-year-old Justin Jenkins was stopped around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 19. by members of the Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force while on foot in the 5000 block of Long Pointe Road. According to Lt. Jerry Brewer, the Gang Task Force was conducting an investigation on Jenkins at the time.
“They were specifically watching him,” Brewer said.
Following Jenkins’ arrest, a search warrant was conducted at his residence, where task force members found other drugs and paraphernalia.
Jenkins made his first court appearance Monday, where he was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, two counts of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to Brewer, the heroin found on Jenkins had a street value of $10 per bag.
Jenkins is currently being held in the New Hanover County Detention Facility with no bond.
