Get a sip or nibble from more than 15 local bars and restaurants during an annual holiday fundraiser to help a local non-profit.
The third annual 12 Tastes of Christmas, a benefit for the Cape Fear Literacy Council, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Brooklyn Arts Center located at 516 N. Fourth St. in Wilmington. This year’s soiree invites local restaurants and bars to each create a signature holiday sip or bite for guests to sample.
Delectable delicacies and libations will be provided this year by: The Blind Elephant, Beer Barrio, Caprice Bistro, Chops Deli, Flytrap Brewing, PinPoint, Palate, Delish NC, Wilmington Brewing Company, Fork ‘N’ Cork, Goat & Compass, Twist & Stout, Costello’s, Soulful Twist, Detour Deli, Duck & Dive, Freaky Tiki, Yosake, and Folks on Fourth.
According to event organizers, the impetus behind 12 Tastes is to create a level of affordable giving both for individuals and small businesses, keeping ticket prices and sponsor levels within reach for most budgets. Since its inception, 12 Tastes has raised over $10,000 for the Literacy Council’s Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, and has sold out of tickets.
The Cape Fear Literacy Council provides adult literacy services – reading, writing, math and language skills – and ESL classes to adults in the Cape Fear region. They are dependent on volunteers and no special background is required to become a tutor or volunteer. Training is provided to volunteers.
Tunes will be spun by DJ Free Waterfall. Tickets in advance are $30 each, and a limited number of tickets may be sold at the door for $40, depending on availability. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the Cape Fear Literacy Council’s webpage or follow the event through Facebook.
