Wilmington police are investigating an armed robbery at a gas station convenience store early Wednesday morning.
A gunman entered the Scotchman store at 2902 Carolina Beach Road at about 3:21 a.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.
The man reportedly pointed the weapon at the store clerk and took money from the cash register, Lindsay said. The suspect then ran out of the store headed north. Police and K9 responded to the scene but were unable to track the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is described as a black man who wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, white bandanna, jeans and dark gloves. Surveillance video of the suspect could be available at a later time, Lindsay said.
