
Last Wednesday afternoon, Wilmington city council candidates participated in the second public forum in front of a live audience during the weekly public affairs show, CoastLine. The show, which aired on WHQR 91.3 FM in front of a studio audience, will be rebroadcast from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 10.
The two-hour broadcast featured all eight of the city council candidates running for three open seats. The candidates include:
- Margaret Haynes (incumbent)
- Neil Anderson (incumbent)
- Paul Lawler
- John Presswood
- Frank J. Madonna
- Hollis B. Briggs Jr.
- Alvin Rogers
- Debra Hayes
Starting September 16, Coastline has featured candidates from local races to answer questions from journalists, listeners, and members of a live studio audience. Previous forums included Kure Beach Mayor and Town Council, Oak Island Mayor, and Oak Island Town Council.
The next forums include:
- October 14, Carolina Beach Town Council
- October 21, Carolina Beach Mayor
- October 28, Leland Mayor & Town Council
According to a news release from WHQR, the public is encouraged to participate in the forums by coming to WHQR’s MC Erny Gallery beginning at 11:30 a.m on the day of the forum. Doors will close at 11:58 a.m. to meet a firm start time of noon. Listeners can also email questions in advance or during the live event to coastline@whqr.org.
After it concludes, the audio will be available on the WHQR website and on their iTunes podcast.
