Wilmington police are investigating a homicide that occurred off Market Street late Tuesday morning.
East and westbound lanes of Market were closed to traffic until about 1:45 p.m. between the 1900 and 2000 blocks – the scene of an accident where one of the drivers, a black male, was found dead in his car with gunshot wounds.
Crime scene tape surrounded the area where the man was found in his Toyota after striking a Honda CRV heading west on Market. The driver of the Honda was not injured in the crash.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Police spokeswoman Linda Rawley said there were initial reports of a disturbance at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Market Street that law enforcement believe could be related to the shooting.
Rawley said police do have a person of interest in the case.
This is the second incident in three days of a fatal shooting involving a motorist who crashed his car. Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday Wilmington police found a 33-year-old man dead of a gunshot wound in his car, which had crashed at South Sixth and Kidder streets. The man was in the driver’s seat of the car.
