Leland man indicted on multiple sex offense and assault charges

A Brunswick County grand jury has indicted a Leland man on indecent liberties, statutory rape, kidnapping and assault charges.

Denzel Jamal Hill, 22, of Dogwood Lane NE in Leland, was indicted last month, charged with two counts statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child, three counts of assault inflicting serious bodily injury, assault by strangulation and kidnapping. Hill was arrested July 19 and was initially charged with more than 50 sex offense and assault charges on two victims.

Warrants stated the incidents allegedly occurred between April 2011 and July 2014.

Hill was initially placed under a $1 million secured bond, but District Judge Scott Ussery raised Hill’s bond to more than $7 million in July.

Hill remains at the Brunswick County jail under a $7,010,000 secured bond. His next appearance in Brunswick County Superior Court was not immediately available.
